Getting started
Get your site on Google
What Sotera does automatically to get your site found on Google and Bing, and how to see it in Search Console.
When you publish, Sotera registers your site with Google and Bing for you. There's nothing to install.
Steps
- Publish your site from Website (see "Publish your website").
- On the Website page, watch the Google card. It shows Submitting to Google and Bing while we register your site, which usually finishes within the hour.
- When it says Submitted to Google and Bing, your sitemap has been sent, with the date it was sent.
- To see your site in Google Search Console, sign in to search.google.com/search-console with the email you use for Sotera. If that email is a Google account, we add you as an owner of your site there automatically.
Good to know
- Your sitemap includes every page, including one for each service, so each service can show up in searches.
- Google usually starts showing new sites within a few days to a few weeks. Sotera can't speed that up.
- Changes you make are resubmitted automatically.
- If you connect your own domain, we register the new address once it's working.
- If your Sotera email isn't a Google account, you won't be added in Search Console. Your site is still registered and submitted.
Still stuck? Open your dashboard and press Help: it can look at your account, and reach the Sotera team for you.
